International Rug Hooking Day
Tuesday Nov 3rd 2026
Spend time creating together, building community connections, and gaining insight into the creative practice of Lisa Litowitz. In this presentation, Litowitz will speak on The Art of Hooking, sharing how her paintings inspire her hooked art, and how intuition and the elements of art help her achieve textural interest through colour and wool variations. Litowitz will also discuss the renewed interest in textile art that is driving the art world today.
A former fashion buyer who travelled extensively, she developed a strong awareness of vibrant colour that continues to shape her work. Now a full-time artist based in midtown Toronto, Litowitz creates contemporary, unique landscapes in hooked wool art and paintings, combining imagination and memory.
With vibrant colours and bold strokes, her work reflects her own dynamic, outgoing, and optimistic nature. It also interprets the feelings and impressions gathered through travel and time spent in nature.
